The Undertaker: Hallowed Halls

By Carmel McMurdo Audsley

Historical fiction, Crime & mystery | Paperback, eBook

To be a strong woman in 19th century Scotland meant taking on the male establishment. Kate has been running her undertaking business in Edinburgh since her father died in 1858. She has helped down track serial killers, given shelter to people in need and kept her lovelorn suitor at arm’s length. Kate also dreams of becoming a doctor, but the prestigious University of Edinburgh is closed to female students. With a small band of women with similar aims, Kate takes on the men who feel women are intellectually inferior. It is not an easy task. Along the way there are many setbacks, murders to solve and bodies to bury. This novel highlights the struggles women went through in order to gain access to education.
