The Legend of Grace Roscoe

By Ruth C Welsby

Romance, Young adult | Paperback, eBook

This is a historical romance novel taken from a true story of Grace Roscoe and the coachman John Hazlehurst. Set in the 18th century and centred on Liverpool, England. It tells the tale of Grace’s anguished childhood and how she became the heiress to Allerton Hall in Liverpool, the estate of her merchant slave trading uncles – John and James Hardman. Grace’s marriage was arranged to an older well-connected gentleman in order to improve the Hardman brother’s social status. Grace Roscoe’s world fell apart when she heard this news. She had already fallen in love with John Hazlehurst. They eloped and risked their lives on a perilous journey across the River Mersey. Love made Grace strong and determined. She was prepared to give up everything for the man she loved, even her life.

Wrote my first book at the age of 70, and wrote my second at the age of 72. Following a long and successful career as a nurse. Still have a lot of writing to do to catch up.
