Dr Lazar Trifunovic

I was born in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia, now the second largest city in Serbia. I grew up in Novi Sad and finished medical school at the University of Novi Sad. Instead of starting to work as a medical doctor after my studies I decided to go to travel. The reason I decided to go travelling was to discover the various methods of healing used in different parts of the world. My aim was not to write an academic paper on the subject, I did not plan it as a research trip. I set off simply in search of a cure for my own ills. After finishing medical school, I found myself in such appalling psychological state I can hardly describe the turmoil I was in. My life was unravelling. Modern medicine offered no explanation for my predicament, it could not provide solutions nor did it hold out hope for the future. My situation seemed utterly desperate. Being a junior doctor, this was a huge disappointment and it forced me upon a different route in search of answers. I travelled the world, encountering and conversing with people from all walks of life. In 1996 I went to Nepal, where I stayed a month before travelling around India for ten months. After that a year travelling around West Africa, starting in Morocco and passing through Mauritania, Senegal, Mali, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Togo, Benin and finally Nigeria. From 2000 to 2004, I spent several months in both Ethiopia and Peru, paid a number of visits to Nepal and journeyed into Tibet. In 2001 I came across a hospital for lepers in Varanasi and over the next seven years I spent between one and four months at that hospital each year. I visited schools, sought out books, spent time in the sacred places of many religions. I studied different esoteric teachings, traditions and philosophies. I spent many years searching. And then I spent decades in absolute dedication to homeopathy, yoga and the holistic approach to healing. At 2000 I enrolled myself on a three-year degree course from homeopathy at Westminster University, London. After many years of living in London, I finally moved back to Novi Sad at the end of November 2003 and started my own homeopathic practice. Although I still travel around the world a lot, including my studies at the Re-Vision College for Integrative Psychosynthesis in London (2010-2011) I do not have any intentions to move away from Novi Sad again.
