Extraordinary Journey

By Michelle Hatcher

Personal growth, Psychology & philosophy, Health & well-being | Paperback, eBook

Michelle Hatcher discovered that in 2011 when Jon was diagnosed, the world suddenly was a lonely place. With no help, an out of date support list and a school who wasn't trained to deal with Jon's needs, she embarked on a journey of questioning self-discovery through studying the alternative route. Taking matters into her own hands, she steered Jon, who later developed PDA and Scoliosis, through the myriad of primary and secondary education to a brighter future, banging desks, demanding answers to speaking on behalf of a multitude of worried parents and lost children. Here is the book of that journey and the discoveries she made for effective parenting with Autism.

Born in 1972 in Surrey, Michelle wrote initially for the Outreach Wimbledon Theatre in London entering a young playwright's competition and winning whilst still in her teens. However, despite working as a journalist for almost ten years for a Canadian based television and media company, she didn't write her first book until 2014. Writing at first of her passion for vintage fashion, she penned the 20th Century Fashion and 1940's Guide to Accessories both in the first year. After her son, Jon was diagnosed with Autism in 2011, she became very curious about the disorder and other learning difficulties, about how we could live with them more effectively. Studying Psychology as a result, she took her studies further, becoming a certified Life Coach, Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and then flew 8,000 miles to become an Neuro Linguistic Programming Practitioner. She soon discovered the benefits of CBT and NLP as well as developing her own strategies for supporting and encouraging her son.
